Plants & Care on Arrival

Plants are living organisms and have not evolved for postage. This can be a stressful time for them so they should be treated with special care on arrival. When recieved, they should be carefully unwrapped, watered (if needed) and moved into a humid location that is not intensely lit.

• Minor stress (slight discoloring, dehydration or brown tips) should be anticipated when receiving posted plants. I only send healthy plants and do my best to package up plants so that they arrive in great condition, but I cannot gurantee perfect condition. Light trimming may be necessary and is not covered under the live gurantee. Most plants will make a full recovery after adjusting to their new homes. For Dead on Arrival, please see Live Arrival Guarantee below.

• My plants are kept in high humidity conditions in preparation for enclosures. If using for houseplants (where the humidity will be a lot lower naturally) special care should be given in the first few weeks to gradually introduce them to less humid conditions.

• Photographs of plants shown the shop pages demonstrate typical size, colour, and variation — they are indicative only and each plant will grow ourt slightly different. For that reason, each plant will not be exactly the same as the plant pictured but should be very similar.

• For plants included in gift sets (such as terrarium kits and substrate/soil/tool kits, please be aware that plants included are living and will need care, especially if being left for multiple days. A temporary care guide is provided with all kits. They can survive for a few days without light but every day without care will increase chances of damage. Any issues must be reported on the day of arrival. I do not accept responsibility for plants left in boxes. For more care information, see the Caring for Plants on Arrival section in the FAQs.

Packaging

All postal packaging used is compostable. Most internal packaging is also compostable, although some (like soils and amendments) currently cannot be packed that way.

Current packaging types:
• Compostable & recyclable bags made from cellulose (cornstarch/wood pulp) — can be composted or recycled.
• Oxo‑biodegradable bags — not recyclable but decompose quickly; these will be phased out this year.
• Plastic or unlabelled bags — please recycle at appropriate facilities.
• Boxes and paper — can be composted or recycled.
