Terrarium Plants Mix Overview
Terrarium Plants Mix is a curated blend of humidity-loving species, selected for their small size, contrasting textures, and low-to-moderate light needs. Designed specifically for terrariums, the mix includes plants from all across my site, including ferns, foliage plants and trailing plants; miniature foliage that establish a layered, miniature landscape while tolerating consistently moist, humid conditions.
Why Choose This Mix?
| A ready-made combination saves time and ensures complementary growth habits, textures, and humidity preferences—ideal for beginners and hobbyists building closed or semi-closed terrariums. The small, slow-growing species create visual interest without quickly overwhelming the container and thrive when kept moist and sheltered. |

Care Guide
| Light | Bright, indirect light or filtered light is ideal; avoid direct sun that can overheat closed containers. Low light tolerant species will persist but may lose some color or become leggy. |
| Water | Keep substrate evenly moist but not waterlogged. For closed terrariums, water sparingly (condensation indicates adequate moisture); open terrariums need more regular light watering. Use a spray bottle or bottom-watering to avoid disturbing delicate plants. |
| Humidity | High humidity (60%+) is preferred—closed terrariums naturally provide this. Grouping plants and using moss or a pebble tray in semi-open setups helps maintain moisture levels. |
| Temperature | Best at typical indoor temperatures 18–24°C (64–75°F); avoid cold drafts and extreme heat from direct sun or heaters. |
Use a well-draining yet moisture-retentive substrate—peat or coco coir blended with perlite or horticultural sand, topped with a layer of moss or decorative substrate. Minimal fertiliser is needed; feed lightly during the growing season. Trim back overgrowth to maintain scale and remove decaying material to prevent mold.
Use in Terrariums
| Specifically formulated for closed and semi-closed terrariums. The mix provides layered texture and year-round interest while tolerating the constant humidity and limited root space of containers. Ideal for creating lush mini landscapes, foreground groundcover, and small focal plants that maintain proportion inside glass displays. |
